Friends of the Battle River Railway is recruiting for the temporary part‐time position of: Business Coordinator

Summary of Position

The Business Coordinator is responsible for handling all aspects of business operations and providing administrative support to the Friends of the Battle River Railway.

Key responsibilities include: 

Meeting agenda preparation, minutes and follow‐up for all Board and Committee meetings. 

Serve as the primary contact for all customer inquiries and ticket sales. 

Assist with the preparation of the annual budget, year‐to‐date actuals and annual statistics. 

Maintain all records and documents. 

Source potential grant funding opportunities and complete all applications and follow‐up reporting. 

Assist with coordinating all Board initiatives, including, but not limited to: marketing campaigns, ticket sales, budget management, grant funding and coordinating train excursions.

Qualifications 

One (1) year post secondary education in business/office administration or equivalent experience. 

Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with customers in a diplomatic, positive and professional manner. 

Previous experience completing grant applications and applying for external funding. 

Previous experience working for or serving on a Board of Directors is considered an asset. 

Previous experience planning and coordinating marketing campaigns is considered an asset. 

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. 

Proficiency in Social Media applications, as well as the ability to maintain and update a website. 

Ability to develop clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials, with excellent communication, organizational and accuracy skills. 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, including the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment as well as independently. 

Ability to perform a variety of tasks and prioritize the use of time to meet deadlines.

Position Type:

Temporary part‐time Hours of Work: Approximately 35 hours per month Salary Range: $18.00 ‐ $21.00 per hour, depending on applicant qualifications.

Our First Big Contest!

Our first big contest ended on February 20.  Passengers on our February 12 Valentine’s Excursion were asked to post photos on our Facebook page and add the hashtag #FBRR.  The winner would be given two tickets on our “All The World’s A Stage” excursion on March 5.  Thank you to all who participated.  We look forward to welcoming the winning couple on March 5 on our excursion from Kelsey to Forestburg.  #FBRR
